11th September One day Wheel Throwing

£125.00

11th September 10:00-4:00

Join me in my studio for a day of throwing! This class is capped at 4 people, and aimed at absolute beginners.

We'll begin by getting to know the clay you'll be working with—its properties, how it behaves, and how to prepare it for throwing on the wheel.

I will then give a demonstration covering the key principles of wheel throwing before you move onto your own wheel. From there, I'll guide you step by step through the throwing process, helping you build confidence as you go.

We'll take a short lunch break to recharge before the afternoon session (please bring your own lunch!).

The rest of the day will be spent refining your skills, practising the different movements involved in throwing, and beginning to build the muscle memory that makes it all start to click.

What to expect
By the end of the workshop, you'll leave with a solid understanding of the foundations of wheel throwing. You'll be able to see the progress you've made from your very first piece to your last. This is a space to learn, gain a deeper understanding of clay, and experience the satisfaction of making something with your own hands.

What's included
All materials are included, along with the firing and finishing 5 pieces each in an option of 3 studio glaze colours. And have the option for additional pieces to be fired for £5 each. Your work will be ready to collect from the studio 4–6 weeks after the workshop, or it can be posted to you for a small additional fee.

Please note that how to trim your pieces is not covered in this class since it must be done once pieces have had the chance to dry out. All pieces will be finished (trimmed) by the teacher once they are at the right stage.
